Discuss your projectDefine the workload first
A server for business applications has different requirements from a virtualisation host or shared storage system. We discuss the software, expected usage, data capacity and growth you need to allow for.
For virtual machines, useful starting points include the number of workloads, their resource needs and how they are used together. For storage, capacity is only part of the discussion: access patterns, connectivity and recovery requirements also matter.
Plan the surrounding environment
Processor capacity, memory, storage and networking are specified together. Rack or tower format, power, cooling, noise and physical space are considered before the design is agreed.
Existing infrastructure and software licensing can affect the scope. We identify what the new server needs to connect to and which configuration, installation or migration tasks should be included in the quote.
Make handover part of the build
Following agreement on scope and price, we build and configure the server, test it against the agreed requirements and document the setup. You work directly with Scarlett Mallinson through the project.
Backup, recovery and support requirements should be discussed explicitly. Any ongoing monitoring or maintenance is separately scoped; a server build does not automatically include a managed service. Delivery arrangements and timing are confirmed for the project.
