Forma, Fieldnote and Service Ledger run in your browser. Their records, photos and attachments are saved in this browser profile on this device. There is no login, shared cloud workspace, device sync, cloud backup, billing or automatic off-page notification delivery.
Keep independent backups
Use each tool’s JSON backup export regularly and keep the file somewhere separate. CSV, printed summaries and PDF reports do not replace editable JSON backups. Backups include saved data; preserve unsaved forms separately before reloading. Backup files and browser data are unencrypted. Do not store passwords, alarm codes or access credentials.
Move from a local preview or another device
Export JSON from the original browser and URL first. Open the same tool on this website, back up any destination records, then use its restore preview and confirmation. Never clear the original data as a migration step. Fieldnote restores reports as new drafts requiring review. Forma and Service Ledger restore a validated project through their replacement confirmation.
Empty starts and older sample records
New workspaces start empty. An exact untouched legacy sample can be removed on load. Fieldnote compares each report and performs cleanup once during its storage upgrade. Exact untouched older blank starters are converted to a neutral empty report; any edited, reviewed or extended starter is retained. New reports have no preset title, report type, date, items or prose. Forma and Service Ledger clear only a complete untouched legacy project. Edited, mixed, reviewed, extended or damaged data is preserved because its provenance is ambiguous; some older examples may therefore remain. Export a backup before manually deleting unwanted records or choosing an empty reset.
Browser and device limits
Storage belongs to the exact website origin and browser profile. Private browsing, clearing site data, storage limits, browser eviction or changing profiles can erase or hide it. Clearing this website’s storage may erase all three tools. Use one editing tab; conflict warnings are not multi-user synchronization. Offline availability is not guaranteed. Mobile browser emulation was tested; physical devices and Safari remain outside verified coverage.
Privacy and history
The tools do not upload report, photo or ledger payloads. Hosting still receives normal asset requests and technical logs. Other scripts on this same origin and anyone with access to the browser profile may access stored records. Product storage namespaces keep ordinary data separate but are not access controls. Technician review and recorded history are user assertions, not verified identity, certification, cryptographic signatures or tamper-proof records.
Product limits
Fieldnote supports up to 20 stored reports, 12 photos per report, 18 MB per report including review, and 64 MB per backup. Keep original images separately. Forma attachments are limited to 500 KB each and 2 MB total. Its billing values are USD estimates; it does not process payments or send invoices. Service Ledger’s CSV omits history, archives and customer/site metadata; use JSON for recovery. Customer summaries use the browser print dialog to print or save as PDF.
